Reducing Inductance in Power Distribution Systems

In October 2008, Methode's laminated bus bars were featured in Bodo's Power Systems. The article, "Reducing Inductance in Power Distribution Systems: The Features and Benefits of Laminated Busbars," describes how the components in traditional, large bundled cable harnesses used for high power distribution can be replaced with laminated bus bars. The bus bars combine thin flat conductors with thin high dielectric insulation to create a low inductance power distribution system ideal for high-frequency switching applications utilizing IGBT technology. The low inductance of the bus bars provide a cost savings by reducing both the required components by forty percent and labor costs by requiring less installation time compared to the traditional solution.
