Methode was asked to create a reliable and accurate way to sense the level of non-liquid material through walls and other solid divisions.
We developed a level sensor, using field-effect technology, capable of recognizing semi-solid material through non-conductive containers.
Many of Methode's vending-machine customers expressed a growing need to accurately detect inventory levels of coffee beans and sugar in their consumer-facing dispensing equipment. Having incorporated field-effect technology in other applications and for other purposes, Methode's sensor team developed a sensor that could detect non-liquid material through the walls of non-conductive containers. This no-contact solution offered reliable level detection for both the coffee beans and sugar, which proved to be of great value with respect to contamination control, optimizing service schedules and improving product brand strength through enhanced performance.
